Reliability

ree

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9

There are days when I feel completely worn out, not from doing anything dramatic, but simply from the constant effort it takes to show up.

To be present.

To be dependable.

To carry the weight of what others need from me.

Sometimes, it feels overwhelming.

I’ve had moments of crying out to God, “Lord, I don’t want to do this anymore.” But in the same breath, I find myself surrendering: “Lord, if this is how I can love others more, if this will stretch my heart to love like You do, then help me to keep going.”

I once heard a pastor describe this quiet burden as constant reliability. That phrase has stayed with me. Because I’ve come to realize the fact that people rely on me says more about who I’m becoming than about who they are.

And who I’m becoming is someone shaped by God’s faithfulness.

The strength to keep showing up doesn’t come from me, it comes from Him, the One who never fails to show up. When I feel tired, I no longer try to push through on my own. I remind myself: this is where faithfulness begins. Not in grand gestures, but in the quiet, everyday decision to keep going.

And maybe the reward isn’t that I’ll get back what I’ve sown or be recognized for it. Maybe the reward is that, in the process, I am becoming more like Jesus. And I pray that will be enough.

Being reliable is not just a responsibility; it is a privilege, it’s a reflection of God’s heart. It’s holy. It’s worship.

So I keep showing up. Not because I’m strong, but because He is.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for showing up for me again and again, without fail.

Help me reflect Your heart in the small ways that I make myself available to serve others.

When I’m weary, give me Your strength.

When I feel unseen, remind me that You are shaping me.

Let me find peace in becoming more like Jesus, even when I don’t see results.

Teach me to find holiness in the mundane ways I show up every day.

May I be faithful, because You are faithful.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
